Water of Life

According to Wikipedia ,"Water (H2O) is the most abundant compound on Earth's surface, covering about 70%. In nature, it exists in liquid, solid, and gaseous states. It is in dynamic equilibrium between the liquid and gas states at standard temperature and pressure. At room temperature, it is a tasteless and odorless liquid, nearly colorless with a hint of blue". Fascinating.

Don't you marvel at how the simplest things in life are often found to be the things that sustain us? Let's take this example of water. It comes in different forms, yet achieves the same purpose. Friends can be seen as the water in our lives. They sometimes have a mouth that runs like an open tap about things you may find totally irrelevant to your life, but then one day when you're down and out you somehow remember the ridiculous stories that were once like water down a duck's back and that single memory will quench your thirst for laughter and joy!

Then you get those friends that are as cold as...well...ice, when it comes to emotions! You pour your heart out to them but all they can do is smile and wave. Until, that is, they go through a REAL emotional rollercoaster and melt down, making you realise that your "problems" were in fact petty and not worth all those tears. These ice cubes are the friends that build up your courage and character!

Lastly in our "Water Cycle" we have friends that just go with the flow, the free riders that literally go where the wind blows them. We may often question these friends' morals and values because they often come across as being "loose". Little do we realise that these friends are the ones who keep us grounded! They magnify the fineline between fun and stupid by showing us how they cross this line and then return to their senses and cool down on the cool. We can trust that no matter how far these friends drift off, they will somehow find their way back onto the right path.

So, let us redefine "water" to fit its description of the friends that form our lives. Friendships are the most abundant relationships on Earth's surface, covering about 90% of our lives. Naturally, they exists in liquid, solid, and gaseous states. They are in dynamic equilibrium between the liquid and gas states in a healthy relationship and at peer pressure. In a healthy relationship, they are seemingly tasteless and odorless, colorless with a hint of blue.

Yes, friends can dry out every last drop of energy in you but at the end of the day we know that they are the water in our life!

.....so what are you waiting for, when the ultimate, perfect, unatural Friend is knocking on your door?

John 7:37,38
On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and proclaimed, 'If anyone thirst, let him come to me and drink. He who believes in me, as the Scripture has said, "Out of his heart shall flow rivers of living water.'"
